NZSLTA Privacy Policy
The Privacy Act seeks to promote individual privacy by establishing principles for the collection, storage, security, accuracy, use, and disclosure of information, which relates to identifiable individuals. It also governs how that information is accessed.
- Information will be collected from members purely for NZSLTA use. Uses include providing information to the members (newsletters, emails, text messaging, etc), fundraising and for correct identification of members.
- The information will consist of name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, date of birth and qualifications, including teaching hours and employment details.
- The information will be stored in the NZSLTA computer system and only NZSLTA Executive Board, RAP Panel and authorised staff and/or contractors will have access to this information.
- NZSLTA will use non-identifying information (e.g. how many teachers) when reporting data to relevant organisations e.g. government departments, funders, etc.
- The information will not be given out to any other person (except relevant authorities in case of emergency).
- Members are responsible to keep NZSLTA updated with correct information through the TeachSign website via Member's profile (i.e. change of contact details).
- Members may request to see what information NZSLTA holds about them at any time.
- NZSLTA Branches may keep a database of their own members but must follow the above guidelines. All information collected by Branches will be accessed only by the NZSLTA Executive Board and the local Branch committee. Branches are required to keep all membership details in a secure digital format.
