NZSLTA Branch Policy

This policy relates to the three affiliated branches of New Zealand Sign Language Teachers Association (NZSLTA), Northern, Central and Southern.

  1. Branches are not permitted to register as a separate legal entity, including as a registered charity or incorporated society.
  2. Each Branch can establish their own committee and membership base. NZSLTA agrees that each branch shall receive a distribution of $10 per member from the membership fees paid to NZSLTA to support local branch activities that support the NZSL teaching profession.
  3. Each Branch is permitted to use the NZSLTA logo with the appropriate colouring (Blue-Northern, Green-Central, Red- Southern) or the main NZSLTA logo.
  4. Branches may apply for funding using the NZSLTA charity number, however all funding applications must first be approved by the NZSLTA Executive Board before submitted, to ensure they align with the NZSLTA strategy plan and vision/mission. Approval for funding applications will take no longer than 5 working days from time of receipt. Approval will be issued via email and with an attached approval/decline letter.
  5. Each Branch shall elect two representatives from each area to communicate with the NZSLTA.
  6. All events, fundraisers and training held by branches must include appropriate NZSLTA branding and be of direct benefit to the NZSL teaching profession. Branches are responsible for informing the NZSLTA of all events. It is at NZSLTA’s discretion that events shall be permitted, and the NZSLTA reserves the right to cancel any events that misuse NZSLTA branding or do not align with the organisation’s strategic plan, vision or mission. All events must adhere to the NZSLTA Health and Safety Policy, NZSLTA code of conduct and to the NZSLTA Privacy Policy.
