NZSLTA Executive Board Code of Conduct
As a executive board member of NZSLTA you are expected to:
- Agree to be open to different perspectives and values.
- Committed and motivated to be on the executive board, to turn up and do a good job with the organisation’s best interests always in mind.
- Committed to acting upon their delegated areas of responsibility and ensuring their tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner. Work shall be shared among the board members and all members will carry a portfolio.
- Committed to supporting and caring for one another.
- Discussed all information in meetings is to be remain confidential and only board approved messages will be communicated to the wider members and public.
- Agree to complete the conflict of interest register and will be honest in managing their conflict of interests during meetings by declaring these and leaving the room if requested by another Board member/s.
President Responsibilities
As a president of NZSLTA you are expected to:
- Be responsible for appropriate time management within board meetings.
- Create an environment where all Board members have the opportunity to voice their opinions and thoughts, as well as ensure Board members understand the information and have time to process it.
- Be the key contact for staff and contractors within the organisation. When appropriate, delegate responsibility to other executive board members to liaise with specific staff and/or contractors.
- Be the key person for governance level conversations with other organisations. When appropriate, delegate responsibility to other executive board members to liaise with specific organisations.
- Be the mediator in any disagreements or conflicts between board members. If the president is involved in the conflicts themselves then the vice president should become the mediator.
- The president shall provide the Boards instructions and communications to the executive assistant rather than individual Board members. If the President is unable to, then the Vice President will take action.
