Level two project hits a milestone
14 December 2019
What we've been doing lately?
The NZSL Level Two curriculum team has been working hard all year, creating draft materials (e.g. PowerPoint, tutor guide, activity sheets, lesson plans, video scripts, drawings) for units 10-17.
Level two draft materials were trialled in five classes around New Zealand this year: Dunedin, Auckland x 2, Cambridge, and Wellington. There was also a communication games evening in Auckland to trial these materials with selected advanced NZSL students. Tutors involved in trialling these materials have given valuable feedback to improve level two materials. It has been a lot of fun trying out new materials to see if they work.
What next?
The team will work through all feedback in the next few months to polish level two materials. We are planning to film and edit 150 level 2 video clips between March - June 2020. We will start working on homework materials, and there will be people doing final checks / feedback / graphics. There is still a lot of work to do and we are about half way through.
We're excited we've chosen a launch date! Level 2 materials will be launched at NZSLTA's national conference on Friday 14th August. We hope you can join us in Dunedin to celebrate this important milestone.
Thank you
