Certificate Deaf Studies 2025 Application is now open!

Applications for the ‘Certificate in Deaf Studies: Teaching NZSL’  (2025-2026) are now open - closing 1st September 2024.

If you are interested, please fill in the online application form here.

This form is not enrolment – it is just the first step, so we can select students.

We will tell you if we can offer you a place by September 20. At that time, we will also send information about scholarships.

For the application form, you need to record a short video and paste a link (Q. 14. in the online form).

We suggest you record and make a link for your video first – here is the instruction.

Q. 14.  Please record a 5 minute video of yourself in NZSL, explaining topics 1-6 below.  

Upload your video to YouTube or Vimeo and paste a link in the box below. Please don't send Google Drive links.  

  1. Introduce yourself: where you grew up, went to school, where you live now
  2. Tell us about your work/training experience
  3. When/how did you first meet other deaf people? In the Deaf community what are you involved with now?
  4. Why do you want to do the Cert Deaf Studies? How will it make a difference to you?
  5. What, or who, will support you to succeed in study?
  6. How is your time management - how do you feel you will balance work/ study/ other responsibilities?
